🚢 Ocean Freight
Recent developments in the ocean freight sector indicate an early onset and intensification of Peak Season:
– A significant increase in blank sailings by shipping lines across East–West trade lanes
– As a result:
- A substantial reduction in cargo capacity, creating operational challenges for both ports and the whole supply chain
- A sharp increase in freight rates and surcharges
– Additionally, carriers are already announcing expected rate increases in the near term, particularly on routes from the Far East
These trends reflect an early market tightening; therefore, customers are advised to plan shipments in advance, secure space, and budget accordingly.
