Risk management – temperature controlled shipments – air imports

A customer transporting temperature-controlled goods on the US-Israel trade lane asked for a quote for fast delivery via Lufthansa.

The requirement was to import the shipment within 48 hours.

Despite careful planning of the complex transport route that includes different modes of transport and storage in temperature-controlled warehouses, an anomaly of the temperature at the predefined limit was displayed.

The path was examined by the DSV Pharma Manager, using the risk management system for temperature-controlled deliveries.

The report showed that these shipments that had stopped for less than 9 hours at Frankfurt Airport, had a temperature deviation.

These shipments were not transferred to a temperature-controlled warehouse and were waiting in a regular warehouse until their next flight.

On the other hand, cargo that was waiting more than 9 hours between flights was transferred to a controlled warehouse until the flight to Israel.

This information allowed us to help the customer make a better route plan that will be more accurate, and which will improve the quality of transport and prevent the recurring temperature deviations despite his first requirement for the time frame.
