Flash update – 22/03/2026

Below is an updated daily status report regarding the activity of the supply chain in Israel, derived from the regional security situation.

ELAL announced that as of today, March 22, 2026, cargo can be transported on passenger flights operating as part of the rescue flights to and from Israel and New York, London, Bangkok, Miami, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Phuket, subject to approval by security authorities and aviation regulators. At this stage, dangerous goods cannot be shipped on these flights; however, cargo containing dry ice is permitted. Priority will initially be given to older shipments that have been stuck since the beginning of the war. Below is a link to the two El Al announcements from March 19, and March 20.

Arkia announced that as of today, March 22, 2026, export cargo from Israel can be transported on passenger flights operated with wide‑body aircraft (height up to 1.60 meters) to JFK, and from there with United to additional destinations across the United States.

Although flights to and from Israel are currently operated mainly by Israeli airlines -with limited cargo capacity and higher‑than‑usual transportation costs—the possibility of transporting shipments on rescue flights increases available capacity and will gradually reduce airfreight transit times.
Additionally, cooperation between international airlines and Israeli carriers, along with the operation of charter flights, expands available solutions and provides broader connectivity to and from major global destinations.

Export From Israel – New Updates

• United & Silkway – Combined service operating cargo flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays from TLV to HHN, with direct onward connections to all Silkway destinations. The next cargo flight (B747 aircraft, cargo height up to 3 meters) from TLV to HHN/Frankfurt is scheduled for March 23, and one for March 28.
• Air Canada – Will begin operating cargo flights this week to Athens in cooperation with El Al (cargo height up to 1.60 meters) on Mondays and Tuesdays. From Athens, onward connections are available with Air Canada to Canada, the United States, South America, and Australia.
• American Airlines – Flights to London operated by El Al, and from there to selected American Airlines destinations in the United States, Canada, and South America.

 Impact of the Crisis – Surcharges and freight costs
Due to the ongoing crisis, and particularly the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, we are experiencing increases in international freight transportation costs and the implementation of surcharges across all destinations by both ocean carriers and airlines, in import and export.

Ground transport carriers in Europe and the United States have increased the fuel surcharge by 18% for road transport, including pickups and deliveries.
Rate quotations will be updated to include this surcharge starting today (customers billed under older rate agreements will have this surcharge added on top of existing prices).

Dangerous Goods – Procedures
Below is a link to the Home Front Command guidelines for handling hazardous materials, including an updated list of substances classified as posing potential risk to the population.
Given the current situation, even for materials permitted for import according to the guidelines, the booking, container loading, and actual shipment remain subject to final approval by ocean carriers for loading hazardous cargo onto their vessels.

Land Border Crossings – Cargo – Limited Operations
Due to the Eid al‑Fitr holiday, some crossings are temporarily closed:

• Jordan River Crossing – Open today for cargo operations.
• Allenby Bridge – Closed today. Activity is partial according to the list provided to customers by terminal management.
• Aqaba Crossing – Closed today.
• Nitzana Crossing – The terminal is closed today. On Sunday and Monday, March 22–23, 2026, the Israeli terminal will open for cargo release from storage and maintenance work. On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the terminal will reopen for full operation.
