Dangerous Goods shipments
The Shipping and Ports Authority has published clarifications to the order of the Home Command regarding hazardous materials in ports, the main restrictions refer to ships with import cargoes that are now required to obtain approval for every ship arriving at Israel's ports with dangerous goods .(S&PA announcement attached)
The Shipping and Ports Authority, in coordination with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, issued a directive to the ports regarding the direct delivery of containers containing dangerous cargo or other restrictions on certain dangerous substances including bromine, ammonia, classification 2.1 and 2.3 (the same as what was pre-soldering with the addition of several substances).
Following these restrictions, shipping lines limit the importation of dangerous goods to Israel mainly because of the fear of delaying the entry of their ships into the ports .
Here are the clarification regarding the Order on the treatment and storage of dangerous goods in ports, and consequently, the duty of ports to receive authorization for every entry of a ship carrying dangerous goods (loading, transit, unloading), from the Administration of Shipping & Ports and the dangerous goods center of Home-Front Command:
Ships carrying dangerous goods in transit- in general, there is no restriction to enter the port.
Ships carrying dangerous goods as export from Israel- there is no restriction to enter the port. The transportation shall be monitored by the dangerous goods consignor.
Ships carrying dangerous goods as import to Israel:
- Dangerous goods transported by direct delivery- there are no instructions by Home-Front Command. The relevant instructions are issued by the Ministry of Environment through the port toxin permit.
- Dangerous goods not transported by direct delivery, shall be considered on a case by case basis, taking into account the risk range, the ports' storage capability in protected areas, the unloading time from the ships and the length of stay in port until the goods are delivered.
Our team are available for you supporting and finding the best solutions to handle your shipments.
We will continue to update on any development.
